★ My first SIHSmart India Hackathon 2025
🫠 Not selectedMy second hackathon and my first shot at Smart India Hackathon. We pitched AyurSutra, a platform for Panchakarma therapy centres, in the university's internal round and didn't make the cut. It's also the hackathon where an AI tool built our whole app in minutes, and changed how I think about building.

[02]The round
Round 1
University internal round
We pitched AyurSutra to the jury that picks the university's teams for SIH, with a deck and a Django prototype that our own README honestly rated "~35% complete".

[03]What we built
AyurSutra

Doctor, patient and admin roles
One sign-in with role-based access, on a custom Django user model with token auth.
Patient profiles
Prakriti and Vikriti, medical history and emergency contacts, all in one record.
Appointments
Consultations, treatments and follow-ups, each tracked from scheduled to completed.
Treatment plans
Sessions done against sessions planned, plus medicines, diet and lifestyle advice.
Ayurveda assistant
A Gemini-powered chatbot that answers Ayurvedic questions in context.
Notifications and feedback
Reminders and payment alerts, plus multi-criteria (optionally anonymous) patient feedback.
[04]Plot twist
We typed one prompt. An AI built our whole app. 😱

Then 😱
Halfway through building, we found Base44. We pasted in the problem statement and a prompt, and it generated the entire app: patients, schedules, treatment plans, practitioners, even a dosha quiz. We looked at each other: "Bhai, AI to sab kuch kar lega. We're done." 💀
Now 🧠
The app turned out to be the easy part. Knowing what to build, designing it so it feels right, making the architecture hold up and actually thinking the problem through is still the job, and it's still a long way ahead of any prompt. 🧠

My first commits ever. A friend's entire git tutorial: "just type anything and press this button." 🫡 So I did, at 1:38 AM, and every message got shorter than the last one: "Change", "ch", "Chan", then just "c". No idea what a commit was. Zero regrets. 😅
[06]From the floor

“Not getting selected stung for a day. Base44 stung for longer, until I saw what it couldn't do. The gap between a generated app and a product that's been properly thought through is what I've been working on ever since.”
